New plantings Ilex

Ilex (Holly) is a family that comes in may shapes and forms,. Most people associate it with the prickly holly that appears in many Christmas designs (picture Ilex aquifolium). However there are more members in this family.

Ilex crenata for example has little resemblance to this commonly known Holly. Oprins Plant has developed and licensed a number of species that have remarkable resemblance to boxwood:
-Same shape and colour of the leaves
-Evergreen
-Can be stored in any height, from 0.2 to 2 metres (and more)
-Very suitable for form cutting

Our licensed Dark Green© and Blondie© varieties differ from boxwood in terms of health and durability:
-No intensive chemical treatments are required to protect your plant against various fungal diseases.
-No intensive monitoring or treatment is required to keep the plant free of boxwood caterpillars (which eat away all the leaves).

We have several pages dedicated to Dark Green© and Blondie© , click on the links below to find out more about these plants.
